This describes the actual terms of using SoCal Surf today, in plain language. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. See the note above.

SoCal Surf is provided free of charge, for informational purposes. Surf forecasts, scores, and Dave's reports are estimates generated from third-party weather and ocean data (Open-Meteo, NOAA). They are not a guarantee of actual conditions, and ocean conditions can change quickly and unpredictably.

The ocean is genuinely dangerous. Rip currents, submerged hazards, marine life, and rapidly changing conditions exist regardless of what any forecast says. Always use your own judgment, check conditions in person, and never surf beyond your ability or alone in unfamiliar or hazardous conditions. This app is a planning tool, not a safety guarantee.

We may update these terms, the app's features, or its scoring methodology at any time as the project develops.
